Word games are popular for a variety of reasons. Some people play word games to improve their vocabulary while some play to train their mind better in picking up patterns. Some people are simply addicted to such games with crossword and word search puzzles providing a great source of entertainment for them. The reasons can vary but every player wants to play a game that is easy to play and yet challenges them as much as possible. Word Search is a word game developed by Melimots that tries to ensure that the game isn't complicated at all but still poses a difficult challenge for its users.

As already stated, Word Search is a very stripped-down app that basically focuses on its main selling point – word games. There are no bells and whistles and extra features with the app developers banking on the word search grids that the app develops to keep the users addicted. As soon as you would launch the app, a new word grid would be developed and you can start searching and identifying words in different patterns right away.

The app creates a 11x12 grid of letters with the hidden words present in the grid in the form of different horizontal and vertical patterns shown at the bottom of the screen. There are 35+ words to identify within one grid and the words to be identified present in alphabetical order at the bottom of the screen. The words are present in vertical lines in both forward (top to bottom) and reverse (bottom to top) formats along with horizontal lines also in both forward (left to right) and reverse (right to left) formats.

When a word is identified on the grid, the app colors it in order to ensure that the letters are highlighted. One letter can be used in two words that are both part of the grid though and therefore, its up to you to ensure that you don't miss out on any letter just because it is already part of one word within the grid. When you find a particular word, it gets struck down in the word list at the bottom and is moved to extreme right of the screen so that the remaining words are shown first.

The words used in the word search game are not entirely well-known and this adds to the challenge of the game. Your eyes are well-trained to catch regular words within a letter grid. However, the uncommon words are difficult to track especially if they are in a reverse order as that makes things doubly difficult. The main idea here is to first pick words that you know and search for them in the grid and then slowly move to the obscure words later on.

The word game starts timing you as soon as you start a new letter grid. Unfortunately, you are not shown the timer anywhere and therefore, you are never sure how much time you have spent on solving one grid. Once you have completed the grid, you are shown how you fared against your best score. The game is kept addictive in this manner though as you keep trying to best your own best score again and again.

The word game also offers excellent customization options to help out. You can change the language of the game and switch between 10 different languages. Moreover, you can change the app's color theme, increase or decrease the color size and disable colors too if you so want.
